It is a service to protect customers from a variety of hazards (hazardous information, viruses, etc.) and provide a safer and more comfortable Internet environment.
2. What functions does the "Web Filtering Service" have? |
It has the "URL filtering", which blocks hazardous sites such as adult sites and illegal activities sites.
3. Is there any initial cost or additional fee for the service? |
No. The fee is included in the regular monthly SpinNet fee.
4. Please explain the registration/cancellation procedures. |
"Web Filtering Service" registration/cancellation should be completed at the Users' Information Change Page.
5. Are there conditions for applying to the service? |
This service is available to all SpinNet subscribers.
6. Can I use the service immediately after registration? |
You are able to use it immediately after registration, if you set the proxy on your browser.
7. Is it necessary to install any software or configure settings? |
You do not need to install any special software.
You are able to use this service only by setting proxy for web filtering service on your browser.
8. Can I use only one of the "URL filtering" and the "Virus Check"? |
You can use only the "Virus Check" by turning off the URL filtering at web filtering service "Web Filtering Service Configuration".
You are not able to use only the "URL filtering".
9. I have several email addresses. Can I set different settings for each email address? |
Yes. You are able to change the settings for each email address.
10. I have several PCs. Can I use the service on each PC? |
Yes. You are able to use this service if you set the proxy on each browser.
11. Is there recommended browsers for using this service? |
We recommend Explore5.0 or higher or Netscape4 or higher.
12. Is it possible to change the authentication method? |
We only provide the authentication method using mail address and mail password. You are not able to change it to other authentication methods.
13. Is there any restriction for the connection line? |
There is no restriction.
14. I access the web through other proxy server. Can I use the "Web filtering service"? |
If you already use other proxy settings, you are not able to use " Web Filtering Service".

It restricts web browsing on 10 categories such as adult, illegal activities, drugs, violence, dating service, and gambling.( For more details about the categories, please refer to this page.)
2. Please explain how to set for using the "URL Filtering". |
Please check/change at Web Filtering Service "Web Filtering Service Configuration" on Users Information Change page .
3. Please explain how to cancel "URL filtering". |
You can cancel it by turning off the URL filtering at "Web Filtering Service Configuration".
4. After the proxy settings, does it prompt ID and password when I open the browser? |
With the "URL Filtering", you access to the Internet through proxy server. In doing so, we conduct authentication based on Mail Address/Mail Password which you registered as the authentication key, then you will be able to use Internet.
You can change the settings for each email address, so please make good use of it based on usage scenes.(Click here for the settings.)
5. What kind of software is used in the "URL filtering"? |
We use a filtering software named "Intersafe" by Alps System Integration co., Ltd.
6. Can I choose categories to put restrictions or add URLs to block? |
You cannot choose categories to put restrictions or make individual settings of URLs.
The sites subject to the URL filtering are based on the sites which Alps System Integration Co., Ltd. recognize and register as hazardous.
7. Is information of hazardous sites (information of URLs to put restrictions) updated? |
The information of URLs to put restrictions is updated on regular basis. However, we cannot guarantee to filter all the hazardous sites.
8. Some hazardous sites are not blocked. |
9. Some necessary sites are blocked. Can I lift the restrictions on these sites? |
You are not able to lift restrictions on only some specific site.
The sites subject to the URL Filtering are based on the sites which Alps System Integration Co., Ltd recognize and register as hazardous.
1. What is the "Virus Check"? |
It detects and removes viruses which can infect through web browsing, such as virus-infected web sites.
Virus infections through web browsing usually occur without noticing, therefore, by using this function you will be able to use the Internet with more security.
2. Please explain how to set up for using the "Virus Check". |
You do not need any settings.
The "Virus Check" is automatically applied to customers who have applied for the "Web Filtering Service" and have done proxy settings.
3. I use mail virus check service. Can I use the "Virus Check"? |
Yes, you can use it.
The "Mail Virus Check Service" conducts virus check for SpinNet email and does not conduct Web virus check. Using them together at the same time, you will be able to use the Internet with more security.
4. Please explain how to use the "Virus Check"? |
You can use only the "Virus Check" by turning off the URL filtering at web filtering service "Web Filtering Service Configuration".
5. Please explain how to cancel the "Virus Check"? |
By deactivating the proxy server setting, the "Virus Check" will be cancelled. Please note that the "URL Filtering" will be cancelled all together.
6. When I access to specific sites, I get the error message on the screen. Please explain the reason. |
This message appears when the access to the specific URL is blocked.
When there is a file unsupported by the virus check engine in the specific URL and it is not possible to conduct virus check, the access to the URL is blocked because its safety in not confirmed.
If you have confirmed the safety of the specific URL, please deactivate the proxy server setting and access again.
7. Are there any sites that are sites that are not subject to virus check? |
Any data of 100M or more or streaming are not subject to the virus check.
