After installing Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows XP SP1 ( both of witch include Outlook Express 6 SP1), your Email attachments in Outlook Express may be removed.
These Email attachments are not necessarily viruses; however, Outlook Express blocks certain file types that could spread dangerous code.
Please try the following to solve the problem.
Open Outlook Express.
On "Tools" menu, click on "Options".
Click on "Security" tab and uncheck "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" box under "Virus Protection".
You might receive the same type of the security warning when you receive an attachment with the extension such as ".exe" when you are using Outlook 2002.
You will be able to open the file by changing the security level to "Low" (Tool => Macro => Security); however, we strongly recommend you making sure that the attachment is completely safe before you change the setting.
Please be aware that these security settings for Outlook Express 6.0 and Outlook 2002 are originally configured by Microsoft.
If you have received Email whose recipient's address was specified as somebody else's Email address, the following may be the factors causing the problems.
A2-1
In case that you registered for Mailing Lists.
Please contact the administrator of Mailing List to unsubscribe it if you registered for unnecessary Mailing List.
A2-2
In case that your Email address was stated in Blind Carbon Copy (BCC:).
In this case,
* The header information in Email shows "Delivered-To: xxxx—***.***.ne.jp"
* Recipient's address (TO: address) usually shows "<Undisclosed-Recipient:;;;;>"
If your address is specified in "BCC", your Email address might have been leaked to the third party due to the virus, or spammers might have got to know your Email address for some reason. If you frequently receive this type of Email with specific "Subject", please use the filtering function of your Email software to block it.
Both "TO:" address and "FROM:" address have been possibly fabricated by viruses or spammers. If you frequently receive this type of Email with the specific "Subject", please use the filtering function of your Email software to block it.
Some viruses fabricate the sender's address, and they can create invalid addresses randomly to send Emails using your Email address as sender's address "FROM". As a result, these Emails are returned to you with the errors such as "unknown user" and "unknown host"
If there is a common word in those Email messages, please use the filtering function of your Email software to block them.
In order to verify the real senders of those unwanted Emails, you can usually refer to the IP address stated in Emails; however, the header information can be also fabricated, and many of them are sent from foreign countries.
It is relatively easy to find out whether the header information was fabricated, since there is a inconsistency in the information; however, it will be extremely difficult to find out who the real sender is; and what is worse, if the mail was sent from foreign country, there will be no way to find the real sender.
Please be responsible for keeping your Email address in safety and also use anti-virus software to protect your computer from being infected by virus.
The mailbox size for each Email address is up to 30 MB.
If your mailbox becomes full, Email will be returned to the sender with the error "User is over quota Email returned". In this case, you will need to delete unnecessary Emails to make space for the box.
Please try the following steps to solve the problem
Enter your Email address and Password in "Web Mail" login form and click on "Login" button.
After logging in, the list of Emails that you received will be shown, please select unnecessary Emails and delete them.
Many of the Email applications have the functions to automatically delete the copies of Emails saved in the server. Please refer to the manuals of each application for more details.
If you have the setting to save copies of Emails in the server, please set "days" to keep the copies and delete them on regular basis.
In order to send Email through other than our Network, POP before SMTP is applied to our Email service system.
With this POP before SMTP system, you must first identify himself/herself as a rightful user by first receiving incoming Email with mail software.
Then, only the rightful user will obtain authentication to send Email.
You can send Email for about 10 minutes after this authentication.
The password information for the additional Email address can be created and charged by customers. If you lost the information, please re-create the password at the following URL.
