If you type <P> at the beginning of your sentence, you will skip a line leaving it blank and start your sentence on the next.
eg. <P>My new sentence with a blank line left above.. |
*Use <blockquote> </blockquote>, to 'block indent' text.
*i.e.<blockquote>Long paragraph! </blockquote>
*Text typed between the 2 blockquote tags will look like this:
Ok. This will be a long paragraph about how much I love chocolate.
It's especially nice with a steaming cup of milk coffee in the mornings when I get to work.
Sip, burn tongue, salve with chocolate. Hmmmmmmm!!!!!
A humble milk drop or piece of Cadbury is enough to transform my morning into something beautiful.
And if I can have a mint thin with my evening coffee then well...

Changing your font style. |
|
<font face="times new roman">
Times New Roman style
</font> |
|
<font face="comic sans ms">
Comic Sans MS style
</font> |
|
<font face="courier">
Courier" style
</font> |
|
<font face="arial">
Arial style
</font> |
Points to note for these different font faces :
- These text styles can only be seen if you are using Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator 3 to look at your pages.
- If you don't have the font style saved in your computer, your writing will not show up in that style on your page.
- Also, other people looking at your Web page will only be able to see a particular font style if it is saved in their computer.
- Most people will be able to see "arial", "times new roman" and "courier" font styles on their computer.
- If you have specified a particular font style which is not installed in the computer of the person looking at your page, you might get some 'interesting things happen'.
*How do I combine my font 'size' and 'face' tags?
*How do I apply more than one tag to my text?
Now, go ahead and have some fun!!!
- Get inspired and make a brand new page.
You can copy your favorite Shakespearean sonnet or get downright creative and pen your own.
Save your page as poem.html in your 'my work' folder.
- Use all the html tags you have learned in this lesson to prettify your page.
- Use <br> to separate your lines.
- Use <p> to separate your poem's verses.
- Try and use <blockquote> in some parts of your poem.
- Experiment with the different font sizes and styles until you are satisfied with how your page looks.
- Also, make good use of the bold, italic and underline tags to emphasize the important parts of your poem.
